Having artwork guidelines is necessary for successful signage production. Adhering to these specifications regarding file types, resolution, color modes, and size ensures your signage is produced with optimal clarity and accuracy, reflecting the high-quality standards we strive for.
Vector Artwork
Vector artwork is always preferred because it can be scaled to any size without losing quality or becoming pixelated. This means your signage will maintain crisp, clean lines and sharp details, regardless of its final dimensions. Common vector file types include:
AI
EPS
PDF (when saved as a vector)
Unlike raster images (like JPG or PNG), which are made up of pixels and can blur when enlarged, vector artwork ensures a professional and high-resolution finish for your signage.
Resolution of Files
Raster image files like TIF, PSD, and JPEG, need to have a minimum resolution to avoid pixelation. We recommend 100-150 dpi at 100% print size or 200-300 dpi at 50% print size. We recommend submitting files at 100% final print size.
Acceptable File Types
Following is the list of all acceptable file types:
PDF
TIF
JPG/JPEG
EPS
AI
PSD
Fonts (Text)
To ensure consistent text appearance in your signage, please convert all fonts to outlines or curves before sending us your artwork. If this isn't possible, please provide all font files used in your design.
Color Mode
To ensure color consistency, please save your artwork in CMYK. While RGB files are acceptable, they will be converted to CMYK for printing, and color differences may occur.
When preparing files for digital printing, please convert any Pantone or spot colors to CMYK. This will help us achieve the closest possible color match
Recommended Design programs
We recommend the following applications for maximum design quality and the best print results:
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe In Design
Corel Draw - files must me exported as one of the following formats: High Resolution PDF, JPEG, TIF EPS or AI and make sure all fonts are converted to curves
Avoid Missing Images
Please ensure all graphics and images in your artwork are either embedded within the file itself or linked externally. If you've linked them, remember to provide us with the separate image files.
By adhering to these artwork guidelines, you'll ensure your signage is produced with the highest possible quality and accuracy. From utilizing scalable vector graphics and maintaining optimal resolution to managing color modes and font specifications, these practices are crucial for a professional and impactful final product. Taking the time to prepare your files correctly will streamline the production process and ultimately deliver signage that perfectly represents your brand.
